Review + Gallery: Sundowner, Ray Rocket, Ben Kellogg & The Larimers in Denver, CO

Sundowner

I’d been looking forward to seeing Sundowner for a while, especially after seeing The Lawrence Arms, Brendan Kelly solo and The Falcon all within a few months. It just seemed incomplete without Chris McCaughan in the mix and doing his thing, too. The lineup was stacked, especially for an acoustic show! I was also excited because two of my friends that just moved to Denver, our very own Patrick Houdek and my friend Deepak, were in attendance!  Basically, it was …

DFMK

DAY 3 – THE MOUSTACHE BAR We woke up in the early afternoon as Jorge from DFMK was headed outside to smoke a cigarette. On April 1 the Ruffed Up Duck was packed almost to capacity with a high energy, talkative crowd made up mostly of friends, locals and the odd assortment of college students. Before I dive into this I have something say about people coming to a show and insisting on standing in the front row only to …

Review + Gallery: Teenage Bottlerocket, The Gamits, The Nobodys and Russian Girlfriends in Denver

Teenage Bottlerocket

We get a lot of great shows here in Denver, and sometimes, they’re made even better with an acoustic set at one of our breweries, Ratio Beerworks, beforehand.  That was the case on a lovely Saturday, before the return of Teenage Bottlerocket to The Marquis Theater, with support from The Gamits, The Nobodys, and Russian Girlfriends.  Ratio reminds us how well beer and punk rock go together, with their musically named tap list, and their endless support of acts that …
