In culmination of the 20 Years of Hell series, Anti-Flag is streaming a brand new track and we’re super stoked here at Team FtLP to bring it to you.

“Close My Eyes” is a fresh new song recorded for the final installment of the 20 Years of Hell series celebrating the band’s 20 years as a band. The series, sold as a subscription, featured 11 re-recorded and re-envisioned songs in six volumes. Paired with the new versions were two songs from an up-and-coming band.

Bassist / vocalist Chris #2 had this to say about the song:

” ‘Close My Eyes’ is a really personal track to me. I wanted to interject the things that have happened in my life and to my loved ones into this song. The Trayvon Martin case floored me. I had so much empathy for his family, having lost my sister to violent crime and then a subsequent very questionable trial and not guilty verdict. My distrust of American justice was once again put in front of me. This song is commentary on all of that.”

Check out “Close My Eyes” below.

Read the lyrics below:

I always see the same things when I close my eyes
I am always hoping I could clear my mind
The son of my father and the son of sam
The daughter of my mother and another mans hand

The prisons seem endless in a soulless land
A still life painting of a still born man
Searching for reason with irrational plans
Malnourished children hugging Uncle Sam.

I know

listening to our own conversation
watching our own gestation
whispering our own frustration
encouraging our own starvation

I know

There is no justice there are only lies
There are no prisons there is only crime
There is no health there are only goodbyes
There are no truths there is only disguise
There is no heaven there are only fires
There are no states there is only attire
There is no nation there are only cease fires
There are no wars there is only desire
There is only you for you to recognize.

I always see the same things when I close my eyes
I was just hoping I could clear my mind
The son of my father and the son of Sam
The daughter of my mother and another mans hand
