Blink 182

Blink 182 played to a raucous young crowd at the Pepsi Center Denver Tuesday September 13th.  I made it just in time to catch A Day to Remember open a bag of beach balls for the floor crowd that was already tossing rolls of toilet paper towards the stage.  Travis Barker appeared behind the drumkit  for the third song just in time for the sound to give out-which didn’t stop Jeremy Mckinnon, his bandmates or the crowd from continuing the lyrics until …

Gallery: The People of Riot Fest & Rodeo Denver

People of Riot Fest Denver

Although we all love to go to festivals to see bands, one of the things we truly love here at FtLP is checking out what truly gives the festival a bit more personality. The People of Riot Fest is pretty much a tradition here and this year is no exception. The wonderful team of Anna Forister and Jamy Cabre did an excellent job of capturing that personality. Maybe you’ll find yourself in here!? All images are from Riot Fest & Rodeo …

Review + Gallery: Riot Fest Denver Day Two

Ween

Two bands really stole the evening on Saturday night at Denver’s Riot Fest and Rodeo, both were pleasant surprises. Ween paced through a 90-minute set of rarities, hits and everything in between, while Sleater-Kinney came out with the bravado of a festival headliner. Day Two: Meat Puppets, The Lillingtons, Against Me!, Leftover Crack, Sleater-Kinney, Ween Ween The best description I can offer on Ween came from Sonny Votolato (Slender Means, Blue Checkered Record Player): “What Andy Kaufman was to comedy, Ween …

Review + Gallery: Riot Fest Denver Day One

Descendents

From the Moron Brothers of NOFX to the Horror Business of the Misfits, the three-day weekend at the National Western Complex that was Riot Fest and Rodeo lived up to the hype. It was an exhilarating ride (despite the absence of actual rides) from start to finish. In a world that is always changing, here’s one man’s trip through Sanity. Day One: Descendents, NOFX, Lagwagon, Aquabats and Canada A common theme for me throughout Riot Fest was tardiness. I would …

Review + Gallery: Oh My Snare!, Freya Wilcox & the Howl, Stat Dad and The Windermeres

I knew I was in for greatness this weekend. I did not know greatness would strike on a Thursday night in the form of an off-kilter Aussie with a potent voice and a dominant swagger. Freya Wilcox is not a diva, she’s a dynamo and, more importantly, she’s got a backing band to assist in the knocking off of your socks. The Hi-Dive on Thursday night pre-Riot Fest was a happening place. A venerable who’s who of the local scene …

Gallery: The Falcon, The Copyrights, Sam Russo & Mikey Erg! in Denver

The Falcon

On July 8th, The Falcon rolled through Denver to celebrate the release of their second album, Gather Up the Chaps. They brought Carbondale, IL sweethearts The Copyrights, UK’s Sam Russo and jack of all bands Mikey Erg! with them to celebrate. The party was so big that we actually had TWO photographers there to catch all the action. Check out photos from both Jamy Cabre and Patrick Houdek below! * below photos by Jamy Cabre * below photos by Patrick Houdek     …
